Turn 1

The Allies patrol the North Sea, North Atlantic, and South Atlantic, while the Axis patrols the Barents Sea, Baltic Sea, and Mediterranean Sea. The Allied LBA fails to hit any Italian ships. The POC total is +2 in favor of the Axis at the end of Turn 1.

Turn 2

The fast British ships (reinforced by the King George V and the Prince of Wales) sortie to the Barents Sea without any mechanical breakdowns (no speed roll failures). A heavy force of 2x553s, 5x444s, and 2x016(2)s holds the North Sea. Only 3x443 are sent to the North Atlantic, and a mixed force of 2x443s, 1 cruiser, and the Eagle are sent to the South Atlantic. The Kriegsmarine sends the Admiral Scheer to show the flag in the Baltic, and all other war ships to the North Atlantic. The 4 U-boat wolfpack goes to the South Atlantic expecting to only lose 1 submarine.

The Lutzow fails its speed roll and returns to Germany to be ignominously sunk by Bomber Command. The Luftwaffe only manages to disable the Ark Royal back to England. The Kriegsmarine sinks all three of the old British battleships in the North Atlantic, while the Royal Navy saves face by sinking two of the German cruisers. At the end of the turn, the Gneisenau, Scharnhorst, and Prinz Eugen refuel at sea, while the Bismarck and Graf Spee go to France.

In a terrible blow to German naval strategy, newly perfected ASW techniques allow the Eagle and its three companions to sink 3 U-boats in the South Atlantic. Admiral Donitz is rumored to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The lone surviving U-boat evades the escorting vessels and disables the Eagle to South America.

At the end of Turn 2, the Axis earns 6 POC for the Mediterranean, North Atlantic, and Baltic Sea. The Allies only get 2 POC for the Barents and North Seas. The cumulative POC total is +6 in favor of the Axis.

Italy: 4-3-5 Conte di Cavour, 4-3-5 Guilio Cesare, 1-1-7 Fiume, 1-1-7 Gorizia

Turn 3

With the Bismarck and Graf Spee threatening to sortie from France, and three other German warships unaccounted for (after refueling in the North Atlantic last turn), the Admiralty decides to concentrate its forces in the North Sea and the North and South Atlantic Oceans. Only a lone cruiser is sent to the Baltic. The Russian Navy provides limited support by sortieing into the Baltic Sea with one ship.

The Kriegsmarine sends the Tirpitz and Scharnhorst to the Baltic to sink the Okt. Revolutia. The Gneisenau, Admiral Scheer, and Prinz Eugen go to the Barents to deal with the Sussex. Both Allied ships are sunk, and their return fire does not damage the German ships (only disabling the Scharnhorst to Germany). Bomber Command is unable to find the German ships hiding in French ports. The reinforced U-boat wolfpack (1 old and 1 new submarine) patrols the Mediterranean Sea, helping the Italian fleet prevent any Allied ships from delivering supplies or reinforcements to the Australians besieged in Tobruk.

Italy: 4-3-5 Conte di Cavour, 4-3-5 Guilio Cesare, 1-1-7 Fiume, 1-1-7 Gorizia

Leningrad: 3-3-3 Marat

Turn 4

The Americans enter the war and send the Augusta to help patrol the North Atlantic. The Russians decide to release the Marat for operations in the Baltic Sea. The British fleet is divided among both Atlantic Oceans and the Barents and North Seas to protect the convoys and keep the Bismarck, Graf Spee, and Italian cruisers out of the South Atlantic. Only the King George V has mechanical trouble that forces it to put into a Russian port prematurely.

The relatively weak U-boat wolfpack (back up to 4 submarines now) returns to the Mediterranean to ensure the fall of Tobruk, while the main German fleet returns to the Baltic to sink the last Russian ship. In the Barents the Luftwaffe misses Convoy 1A and the Ark Royal, but sinks the Formidable. At the end of the turn the convoy reaches Russia to earn 3 POC, and the Axis lead is cut to only 4 POC overall (Allies control 4 sea areas this turn and establish blockade).

North Atlantic: 4-4-4 Barham, 4-4-4 Malaya, 4-4-4 Queen Elizabeth, 3-3-6 Renown, 1-1-7 Augusta, 1-3-3 Convoy 2B, 0-1-6(2) Courageous

Italy: 4-3-5 Conte di Cavour, 4-3-5 Guilio Cesare, 1-1-7 Fiume, 1-1-7 Gorizia

Turn 5

The British Navy sends a new battleship (Anson) and a battlecruiser to reinforce the units protecting Convoy 2B in the Barents Sea. Three aircraft carriers in the North Sea discourage any attempt by the Kriegsmarine to break the blockade. Feeling secure, the Americans only activate a second cruiser and only send one cruiser to patrol the North Atlantic. Two U-boats ensure that the Allies do not control the North Atlantic. In the South Atlantic Allied ASW sinks two and disables one of the four remaining U-boats. The lone surviving U-boat in the South Atlantic exacts revenge by sinking the Glorious. Neither the Luftwaffe in the Barents, nor Bomber Command over France are able to find any targets. Convoy 2B reaches Russia, earning 3 POC for the Allies and reducing the Axis POC lead to only 2 POC.

Russia: 1-3-3 Convoy 1A (Turn 4)

United States: 1-1-7 Augusta

Turn 6

Fearing for the safety of the third and final lend-lease convoy, the U.S. Navy sends two battleships and three cruisers to the North Atlantic as escorts. The British send the battlecruiser Repulse to meet the convoy on its way across the Atlantic. The Allied aircraft carriers remain on patrol in the Barents Sea, North Sea, and South Atlantic, helping the main British task forces to contain the German and Italian surface fleets and prevent the U-boat wolfpack from breaking the blockade.

Unfortunately for the Allied cause, disaster strikes in both the Barents Sea and the North Atlantic. First the Luftwaffe sinks both the Ark Royal and the Illustrious in the Barents Sea, and then the U-boat wolfpack manages to sink all of the ships in Convoy 3C. There will be no more reinforcements for the Russians. The POC total remains +2 in favor of the Axis at the end of turn 6.

North Atlantic: 5-5-4 Washington, 4-4-3 Texas, 3-3-6 Repulse, 1-1-7 Augusta, 1-1-7 Tuscaloosa, 1-1-7 Wichita, 1-3-3 Convoy 3C (sunk), 1-0-* U-Boat (sunk), 1-0-* U-Boat (disabled to Germany), 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat, 1-0-* U-Boat
