Turn 1

Nick - In the Meconi/Greenwood matchup, I'll send turn-by-turn summaries later, but for right now Don is the Axis, I'm the Allies, and there's no bid. After 3 turns the Allies have a +1 POC lead. For Bruce's info, we have not previously played an AREA-rated game of WAS. -- Vince

Turn 3

Allies lead by 1 POC.

Turn 4

Details not provided.

Turn 5

Allies no longer have complete blockade and, with their ship losses, are facing a shortage of fast ships. Russians again do not sail, while a 2nd American, a CA, does.

Allied deployment:
Barents - 133, 027/2x2, 456x2, 411, 117x2
North Sea - 016/3, 443x5
N. Atlantic - 133, 016/2x2, 444, 443x2, 117
S. Atlantic - 124, 553x2

Both 456s pass speed rolls to Barents. Allied surface fleet is vulnerable, but Axis has 3 damaged Germans, 2 of which repair. Other Germans patrol Baltic and Italians split as usual. Axis takes advantage of Allied ship shortages and full U-boat fleet by sending 5 U-boats to North Sea and 2 to S. Atlantic.

ASW disables both "boots" in S. Atlantic but can only disable 2 and sink 1 in North Sea. Remaining 2 subs disable the already damaged Ark Royal. Allied LBA cannot hit 2 Germans in drydock. Luftwaffe hits Convoy in Barents, but 2 damage points allow it to slip into port for 3 POC. No ships sunk this turn, but Axis has now completely shattered the blockade.

Allies have Barents and 2 Atlantics for 3 POC + convoy = 6 POC to Axis Baltic and Mediterranean for 3 POC. Allied +3 margin this turn flips overall to +2 Allies.

Turn 6

Allies add another American cruiser, but still no Russians. They deploy as follows:
Barents - 133, 027/2x2, 456x2, 411, 117x2
North Sea - 016/3, 553x2, 443x2
N. Atlantic - 133, 016/2x2, 443, 444x2, 117x2
S. Atlantic - 124/1, 443x3

Axis repairs Tirpitz, splits Italians between Italy and Mediterranean, sends 3 U-boats to S. Atlantic and 4 to North Sea, and sends 5 other German ships and LBA to Barents.

Allied ASW disables 1 and sinks 2 U-boats in North Sea, disables 1 and sinks 1 in S. Atlantic. One U-boat survives to break control in each zone but torpedoes miss carriers. Allied LBA misses Tirpitz in port. Allied airstrikes in Barents disable Graf Zeppelin and Scharnhorst. Axis airstrikes in Barents disable Barham, miss convoy and other ships. Allied shellfire at 3 remaining German ships hits Bismarck for -3, disables Graf Spee, and sinks Admiral Hipper. Axis return fire disables Anson and Howe with -4 damage each. For round 2, Allies have 2 CAs and convoy vs. damaged Bismarck. Allies disable Bismarck, which blows Sussex out of the water in return.

Allies land convoy in Russia for 3 POC and decide to land convoy from N. Atlantic in England for 1 POC as well. Convoys plus Barents and N. Atlantic yield 6 POC for Allies vs. Axis 2 POC (Mediterranean). No flags in Baltic, North Sea, N. Atlantic. Allies go up +4 POC this turn, +6 overall.
