Here is the result of WaS, 2nd rd, between Bryan Eshleman and James Pei. We both chose Allies, with Bryan getting it for 1 POC bid. Bryan resigned after turn 4, losing 13 Allied ships for 3 Axis. Bryan just had horrible die rolls while James' were excellent, especially the Luftwaffe.

Turn 1

The Kriegsmarine sortied out into the N. Atl while the Italian stayed in Med. In an exchange of brutal gunfire, 3 British BBs and the Eagle were sunk, taking Gneisenau and Graf Spee with them. Meanwhile, the Stukas zeroed in on the Ark Royal in Barents, and scratched one flattop.

POC: Axis +6, Allies -3; net +3 Axis

Turn 2

Turn 2: With situation critical, the Allies abandon the N. Atl and concentrated in maintaining the blockade in Barents, N. Sea, and S. Atl. The 3 Ger ships successfully refueled and patrolled the empty N. Atl. The only exchange of gunfire was in the S. Atl where 4 U-boats successfully dodged ASW measures and sunk a cruiser and another carrier. Even more telling was the Luftwaffe over the Barents where it sunk 3 Br cruisers.

POC: Axis +6, Allies -2; net +4 Axis (+3) = +7 Axis

Turn 3

Turn 3: The Allies abandoned the S. Atl in order to protect its convoy in N. Atl. No major action as the Axis just patrolled the given empty seas. Only minor action was in the Baltic as the Russian BB, Okt Rev, was damaged by the U-boats and limped home.

POC: Axis +6, Allies -3; net +3 Axis (+7) = +10 Axis

Turn 4

Turn 4: The Allies withheld Convoy 2B, but sent Convoy 1A to Russia. The US sent the BB, New York, alone to the N. Atl, while Russia sent the damaged Okt to Baltic. The 3 Ger oiled ships again raided into N. Atl along w/ 4 Ital cruisers. The rest of Kriegsmarine practiced naval gunnery on the Russian BB. Needlessly to say, both NY and Okt were sunk. The Luftwaffe mauled the convoy in Barents, inflicting 3 hits. But convoy 1A still managed to crawl to Murmansk for 3 POC. However, another disaster struck in N. Sea as 7 U-boats broke the Allied ASW blockade and sunk another cruiser. This will allow Ger fleet to raid into all 4 sea zones for next turn. At this point, Allies resigned.

POC: Axis +6, Allies -5; net +1 Axis (+10) = +10 Axis

Final Comment

Lady luck just was not smiling on the Allies. With its fleet crippled after turn 1, the Allies could not maintain their grip on the blockade.
