Turn 4

On turn 4 the Marat and Augusta are activated. The Anson joins the Allied ships protecting Convoy 1A in the Barents.

Two of the four U-boats in the South Atlantic are disabled. The Allied airstrikes hit four of the intended targets, but the bombs only do superficial damage. The Guilio Cesare takes 1 point of damage; the Bismarck takes 1 point of damage; the Tirpitz takes 2 points of damage, and the Scharnhorst takes 1 point of damage. Still, negating the bonus on 11 shots could be significant.

The U-boats disable the Marat in the Baltic but miss the British ships in the South Atlantic. The Axis airstrikes disable both the King George V and the Duke of York to Russia. The Eagle's airstrike misses the Fiume.

The first round of surface combat is pretty wild. The Bismarck is sunk. The Tirpitz takes 2 more damage points (for a total of 4) on two hits and is disabled. The Scharnhorst (1d), Graf Spee, and Blucher are also disabled to Germany. Two of the Italian cruisers (Fiume and Gorizia) are sunk in the South Atlantic.

In return the Anson takes 2 points of damage; the Prince of Wales takes 4 points of damage; the Cumberland is disabled; the Dorsetshire is sunk; the Kent is disabled; and the Sussex is sunk. The Italian cruisers miss.

As a result, the Germans retreat at a speed of 3 in the Barents and the Italians retreat to France. Convoy 1A reaches Russia and the Allies gain 4 POC to tie up the game.

The Allied LBA attacks 3 Italian battlecruisers in the Mediterranean and damages two of them. The Axis LBA does not find its targets in the Barents.

Allied ASW in the North Atlantic sinks 3 U-boats and disables none. The 4 U-boats sink the Nelson and disable the New York and Texas. The Illustrious misses with its airstrikes, and the Graf Zeppelin also misses.

During surface combat in the North Atlantic the Tirpitz and Tuscaloosa are disabled, while the Augusta, Suffolk, and Wichita are sunk. The Illustrious and Convoy 3C scatter. The German fleet pursues and sinks them both.

In the South Atlantic the 2 remaining Italian cruisers are sunk by the combined fire of six British battleships while sinking the Renown in return.

By controlling the North Atlantic the Axis gains 3 POC to even the score.

However, with the score tied at 0 POC, the Allied player resigns at the end of turn 7 as it would not be possible to gain the necessary 2 POC to exceed the amount bid at the start of the game.
